Leaving the demons behind!

Last weekend the Reed team were at Sydney Dragway for the X-Champs.  Looking to move forward from the progress made at Willowbank over the Easter long weekend, where the team won 1 of the 2  B finals on Friday & Saturday nights showdown, finishing off with a strong 5.59 e.t.

The X-Champs began with a drizzle and delayed the progress for qualifying.  Top Alcohol managed 2 of the 3 sessions allocated between rain.  Q1 Reed failed to put a competitive time down after breaking the blower belt.  2nd time out they knew with grey skies setting in this might be their last chance to  qualify into the 8 car field for race day. With 11 Competitors entered for Top Alcohol, Steve put himself in 6th position with a not so pretty 5.81 e.t pedal drive, but still good enough to come back fighting for race day.

Price versus Reed was eliminations Rd1 & Steve took the win with a 5.95e.t.  Then doing what they set out to do, Steve drove the funny car to a 5.53 e.t 257mph win over Newby in Round 2, setting a new PB for the team. Not much could better the previous run, but a finals win over Ham with a 5.56e.t @ 256 mph was enough to end the meeting with a gold Christmas tree and a PB.

Awesome efforts for Steve, Debbie and the team over the weekend, now putting Steve 3rd overall on the championship leader board, prior to heading to Willowbank in June for the Winternationals.
